Abstract

These minimally invasive surgical procedures provide alternatives treatment to surgery. This review investigates the efficacy and safety of both procedures. Presently the chemonucleolysis seems to be at least as effective as other inventions but the conduction of a placebo controlled study is recommended. For the IDET the results for efficacy were more ambiguous. The occurrence of side effects in the studies included was 0% - 15%.
